The assessment of business performance is a crucial for strategic decision-making, with all key performance indicators (KPIs) being readily available for business reviews. As a global player in the beverage industry, our client approached us to revamp their current model of maintaining and updating KPIs. This involved manually aggregating data points from multiple sources and repetitively calculating KPIs on a scheduled basis. Due to the large manual intervention, critical resources were locked up, hindering their day-to-day operations, and resulted in data inaccuracies.

Thoucentric understood the necessity of a robust dashboard and was able to provide solutions for tailor-made dashboards to meet different requirements of the business. We assessed the client’s landscape to understand what all types of data sources exist, metrics that the client was tracking or wished to track, and data on how the business/leadership consumed these data inputs for their decisions.

Once this was completed, we advised our client to follow the steps below to enable building a dashboard that required minimal manual intervention and ensured 100% accuracy:

  • Source Data Integration:We identified the different sources from which data was pulled from and established methodologies to capture them.
  • Data Warehouse Design:We integrated the source systems with Azure Data Factory, which helped collate all relevant information on a predetermined schedule
  • Power BI Dashboard:We developed an Automated dashboard in Power BI, showing all the business-relevant metrics that are automatically calculated based on the information taken from the data warehouse. This dashboard also allowed drilling down into the data for seeking more insights and provided the option to download the underlying data

With our help, the client moved from a slow and effort-intensive model of preparing the performance metrics for business reviews to an agile, reliable, and automated KPI dashboard. This resulted in freeing up 18000+ person-hours which could now be utilized for critical tasks. Faster data output meant that our client could hold weekly business reviews as opposed to monthly. This meant the business could take strategic decisions faster. Data warehousing opened doors to perform trend analysis and data drilldowns which was close to impossible before.
